Over the past few months the linknet reports over at the wizkids website brought word of a fairly sizeable change to what might be considered battletech canon. in a mock news article from the age of destruction a picture has been released of a seemingly giant new mech design - a design that makes even an atlas look small. a few weeks later wizkids have just announced the introduction of a new class of mech - the colossus weight class - weighing from 105 to 135 tonnes. these new beasts of `mechs will first be released at the upcoming origins convention a set of three ; , and available for sale a few months later assuming some are left ; . the more recently announced poseidon has been given a release date of october 2006. and of course whilst this news is unlikely to effect the core cbt rules at any point in the near future, at some point it is bound to occur! check out the full announcement at the wizkids website for this interesting development in the future battletech universe.

| Of sellers being very satisfied with their full-service experience and another 24 percent somewhat satisfied. limited services also received high marks with 76 percent being generally satisfied; however, 50 percent of sellers using minimal service were dissatisfied with their experience. there appears to be a relationship between a modest rise in limited and minimal services and a decline in unassisted sellers. "limited and minimal brokerage services cater largely to owners who would prefer to sell on their own but recognize they need some level of professional help, " stevens says. "these services generally are a good match for certain consumers, and help to explain a decline in owners selling purely on their own." a downtrend in the number of forsale-by-owner transactions is clear, currently at a record-low market share of 12 percent; it was 13 percent in 2005. the level of fsbos has been on a sustained decline since reaching a cyclical peak of 18 percent in 1997. in addition, a higher share of fsbo properties are not placed on the open market - 40 percent of those transactions were "closely held" between parties who knew each other in advance family or acquaintances ; , up from 39 percent in 2005 and 32 percent in 2004.

Wyoming sen. craig thomas r ; expressed his opposition to the establishment of recreation fees for most blm and forest service lands last wednesday in washington. thomas had supported the bill in a "parks-only" version of rec fees, but a rumored backroom deal between senators ralph regula r-ohio ; and ted stevens r-alaska ; tacked fees for blm and forest service lands. however the blm and forest service land use fee made its way into the bill, with it could mean bad news for recreational land users, depending on the fees. while thomas's stand against new fees is laudable, details were missing from his oct. 26 press release. "it only makes sense to have a fee where there are visitor facilities, " he said. but that raises the question of what he means by "facilities." a multimedia visitors' center costs more than a kiosk, and land can have costs unrelated to facilities. fees are always suspicious, but so are general statements. -- andy orr.
Co rrespo n d ent the fantastic four doesn't waste time by giving you the back story, or even a short history about the characters in the movie. i can only think director tim story thought we viewers would do our own research; it's a good thing i read some of the comic books and watched the cartoon growing up. fortunately the film has wonderful special effects, and the storyline is a little above average; it definitely leaves the door open for sequels in the years to come. the only complaint i have is about the lack of background. for example, why are mr. fantastic and dr. doom enemies, and why does the thing, aka ben grimm, have mr. fantastic's back all the time? other than that, the pace of the film is great because it just gets right into changing the characters and bringing them into the public eye. the actors in this film have pure greatness in their mists with michael chiklis and julian mcmahon from the shield and nip tuck. chiklis' thing is ok, especially since they didn't make him totally cgi. chris evans as the torch is actually one of the redeemers of the movie -- his attitude and humor went a long way. and as for jessica alba, do i really need to say anything about this woman? she's hot, and by that i mean she is h-ot. alba as the sassy and powerful sue storm was greatness. and ioan gruffudd portrayed reed richards as a complete and total dork who eventually becomes the strong leader. the special effects, are, well, "fantastic" not to make too much of a pun ; . story exercised a lot of restraint when applying the effects to this film. many scenes could have been easily done with cgi, but they have actual actors doing it. most notably, ben grimm; instead of letting the computers do all the work, chiklis spent some time in the makeup chair. now if you go to this film expecting an x-men- or spiderman-level of movie you are going to be disappointed. but if you go in expecting blade, you're going to be happy. all and all the film is pretty good and worth your money to check it out some afternoon. go to the theater, grab a tanker full of beer and enjoy. rating: 3 beer tankers fantastic four director: tim story jessica alba, michael chiklis, ioan gruffudd, chris evans and world series of poker.
The ant bully is an animated movie about a kid that ants know as the destroyer for his penchant for killing them off in a variety of ways. if the game tie-in put the player in a series of scenes from the movie, we might have found something worthy of talking about, but the majority of the game requires you to perform tasks that didn't make an appearance in the movie at all, or were a minimal piece in the movie's storyline. this is the kind of thing we dislike as it is purely appealing to the value the market puts in the movie but doesn't bring any value from it to the game. games like monster house at least attempt to make the transition from movie to game one that's logical with clear segues between the two. so, throwing the movie references away, the game is a simple platformer that feels incomplete. you have a total of four items - a staff, some seeds you can throw around as grenade-like bombs and a dart gun and silk shooter. with this limited arsenal you have to tiredly work your way through levels that don't have any kind of immersive factor to them at all, but have plenty of those invisible barriers that we love to hate where you look like you should be able to get to somewhere else in the level but can't because the developers have put up a wall you just can't see and poker chips.

Response to noel cheer "substrate", displays a blindness which may be tragic. the same principle applies, of course, to the resurrection and ascension, and barth was sublimely correct when he wrote: ". if someone should accept, all in one piece, what he learnt in sunday school i should tell him: you are wiser than if you were to interpret the ascension in a merely spiritualistic sense".44 cheer is therefore saddled with the task of explaining how a cloud of nonfundamentalist witnesses, including many who have made a lifetime study of literary forms and comparative mythologies, accept the substantial authenticity of the orthodox faith. this leaves his criticisms of the apologia statement of faith and contributors somewhat beside the point even if they were valid. the point is not simply that a jerky and unwieldy statement of faith heavily skewed towards conservative evangelical protestantism will not square with the nostrums of a veitch, but rather that veitch's position will equally not square with the great historic creeds at a single point, nor even with the mainstream of a more moderate and intellectually principled liberalism. he has also to come to grips with the liberal j.a.t. robinson's redating the gospels and its well-researched claim that all four gospels were written before the fall of jerusalem in 70 ad: a robinson the sea of faith people seem to neglect in favour of the `sixties robinson and an enthusiasm for a late dating of the gospels, itself dated and untenable. i reliably informed that knox college staff hardly known as devotees of hyperfundamentalism. ; cautioned students, on the publication of robinson's seminal redating book, that all presumptions on late gospel dating were to be placed on hold on the light of robinson's book, a piece of advice the wisdom of which has been amply demonstrated in the years that have followed but which seems lost on jim veitch. the range of approaches found among the contributors to the "focus on james veitch" issue of apologia is presented as a weakness by cheer. he sees it as evidence of the demise of the evangelical position. on the contrary, the fact that all contributors disagree fundamentally with veitch's approach, while maintaining their differences, says it all. veitch's viewpoint is a minority one among new testament scholars world-wide and could with equal logic be held to represent the death-cry of a dated liberal faction of the church. veitch's views are rightly regarded as bizarre by many mainstream liberals and even by some more educated radicals. cheer would have us believe that "so different are the `understandings' of veitch and his critics that we can observe that the christian faith looks no nearer finding consensus". he fails to recognise, as duggan points out, that the often hoary arguments veitch and those like him put forward, are nothing new. dissenters and heretics have abounded throughout the history of the christian church. and yet the fundamental doctrines such as the deity of christ have never changed. this does not rule out the need for greater illumination of the meaning and application of holy scripture to the modern world, and it certainly does not imply a weakness inherent to doctrinal tenets of the faith if they do not "evolve" or "adapt" to fit supposedly modern viewpoints and mores. dr duggan was correct to conclude that veitch's booklet "is incredibly shoddy. it abounds in categorical statements about the new testament books and history of the early church, many of which are not only doubtful but demonstrably false." while it may be argued that cheer failed to address any of these criticisms in his lengthy critique, one has the impression that cheer stands somewhat apart from the sea of faith people, particularly in his willingness to review at some length. it is evident that many of the issues alluded to call for more extended treatment, while others need to be picked up, all in the light of anselm's motto.

Pattern recognition building itself: worn, strangely comforting, still in use. he comes in behind her and closes the door, which is featureless and modern and white. she sees his little reddish-brown suitcase open on a low central table, his phones set out beside it and the laptop's screen up but dark. "who lives here?" "marisa. a friend of mine. she designs fabrics. she's in madrid now." he crosses to a crowded kitchen alcove and flicks on a much brighter, whiter sort of light. she sees a pink sanyo rice cooker on a small counter, and a narrow white plastic freestanding appliance connected to transparent tubing. a dishwasher? "i'll make tea." filling a kettle from a bottle of water. she walks to one of two sliding paper windows inset with central panes of partially frosted glass. through the clear sections she looks out at gently sloping rooftops that seem, impossibly, to be partially covered in knee-deep moss, but then she sees that this is something like the kudzu on win's farm in tennessee. no, she corrects herself, it probably is kudzu. kudzu where it comes from. kudzu at home. the rooftops, in the light from surrounding windows, are corrugated iron, rusted a rich and uneven brown. a large tan insect strobes through the communal patch of light, vanishes. "this is an amazing place, " she says. "there aren't many left." rattling canisters in a search for tea. she slides the window open. she hears the kettle coming to a boil. "do you know dorotea benedetti?" "no, " he says. "she works for heinzi and pfaff, the graphics people. she deals with blue ant for them. i think she had someone get into damien's apartment for her. they used his computer." "how do you know?" she walks over to what she guesses was originally a storage alcove for bedding. this one has been converted into something closer to a western closet. a woman's clothes are hung there, along a wooden pole, and they make her feel somehow self-conscious. if there were a door, she'd close it. "whoever did it called her from damien's phone. i redi-aled and heard her voice-mail message." and she tells him the story then: dorotea, the rickson's, asian sluts. by the time she's finished, they're sitting cross-legged on cushions on the tatami, the kitchen light off, drinking green tea he pours from an earthenware pot. "so it might be that our italians here aren't about the fact that you're working for bigend, or about the footage, " he says. "the break-in predated that." "i don't know if i'd call it a break-in, " she says. "nothing broken. i don't know how they got in." "a key-gun, if they were pros. nothing you'd notice. you wouldn't have noticed anyway, if they hadn't used your browser and your phone. neither of which is entirely professional, but we'll let that pass. and bigend told you she'd worked for someone in paris who'd done industrial espionage?" "yes. but he thought she had it in for me because she assumed he was going to offer me a job she wants, at blue ant london.

| It is not just the present condition of dialogue that is important to bakhtin. there is history in the person, which also significantly shapes social activity. voloshinov emphasizes, perhaps overemphasizes, the determination of utterance by the social situation. but he also postulates a feature of inner speech that he calls a "stabilized social audience": "each person's inner word and thought has its stabilized social audience that comprises the environment in which reasons, motives, values, and so on are fashioned" 1986: 86 ; .15 this stabilized social audience can be specific persons or more idealized ones.16 it is in this sense of an idealized audience like mead's generalized other ; that bakhtin and voloshinov speak of ideology: "any cognitive thought whatever, even one in my consciousness, in my psyche, comes into existence . with an orientation toward an ideological system of knowledge where that thought will find its place. my thought, in this sense, from the very start belongs to an ideological system and is governed by its set of laws" 1986: 35 ; . ideology is not, however, an abstractum, held in the mind as a set of propositions or in habit as a set of tropisms. it is instead a habituated, figured world. so, though bakhtin does not often speak to the point, 17 there must be periods and these periods may even be the majority ; during which one's authorial stance becomes stable, or, in our terms, an identity becomes habituated, usual, common. these topics return us to.
